Our marine life rescue center in Clearwater, Florida is home to Winter the dolphin, star and inspiration of the hit movies Dolphin Tale and Dolphin Tale 2, both filmed on location. We are a unique organization specializing in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick or injured marine animals. The animals that come through our doors arrive because they are suffering from an illness or severe injury. Many of our animals are found by local residents, fishermen, park rangers or even visitors to the area.

Winter and the story of her prosthetic tail has inspired millions to persevere through life’s toughest obstacles. Thousands of people visit each year to see Winter, Hope and our other inspirational animals that have connected with them in their own personal way. Just spending a few moments with these special animals can leave a lasting impact and strengthen their lives. The mission and potential to change people’s lives differentiates Clearwater Marine Aquarium from any other aquarium.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working marine rescue center dedicated to inspiring the human spirit through leadership in education, research, rescue, rehabilitation and release. CMA is home to rescued dolphins, sea turtles, river otters, stingrays, nurse sharks and more. One of our world-famous residents is Winter the dolphin. Winter’s story has inspired millions around the world in the major motion picture, Dolphin Tale, and the sequel, Dolphin Tale 2.
