ADA Accommodations

Parking

Parking for guests with disabilities is located in the CMA parking lot near the Main Entrance on a first-come, first-served basis for guests with an authorized disabled government-parking permit and in the North parking lot at Winter's Dolphin Tale Adventure in downtown Clearwater. Disabled parking signs designate these parking areas and some spaces are van accessible. All cars parked in these specially reserved disabled parking areas without a permit are subject to applicable laws for removal/towing. CMA cannot issue or authorize temporary disabled parking permits.

Scripts

Scripts outlining the dialogue in our presentations are available at Guest Services desk and ticket windows. Guests may ask a staff member or volunteer for assistance. CMA will provide written scripts for all of our animal presentations so that a deaf person can understand the story of each animal and what is being said about them.

Sign Language Interpreting

With a two-week advance notice (14 days), sign language interpreting services will be made available at CMA and/or Winter's Dolphin Tale Adventure at no charge. To arrange for sign language interpreting services the guest should contact us at 727-441-1790 and ask for Guest Services or e-mail us at frontdesk@cmaquarium.org.

Captioning

Caption monitoring is not available at this time but is planned in future presentations. Guests should contact us prior to their visit to determine availability.

Accessibility

Click to see a Map of CMA.

CMA is wheelchair accessible, with a small elevator to lift you to the second level and a chair lift to take you to the third level. However, the Sea Life Safari is NOT wheelchair accessible. A person must be lifted and carried onto the boat or walk a short distance to sit, leaving the wheelchair onsite. Guests are welcome and encouraged to bring their own wheelchairs and strollers.

For added convenience, CMA offers Manual Wheelchair Rentals (*250 lbs. maximum weight capacity) that may be rented on a one-day basis. If a guest is in need of this convenience item, we strongly recommend that they provide their own. There is absolutely no guarantee that a wheelchair will be available upon arrival on the day of their visit. A deposit is required for each chair. The deposit is returned when the guest returns the item undamaged to the checkout location. Driver's licenses cannot be left in lieu of deposit. Credit cards are accepted for deposits.

  • Deposit: $50.00

For your convenience, wheelchair accessible areas are clearly marked with the International Symbol of Accessibility. At admission, upon request, an ADA wheelchair bound guest will be provided with a brochure and map of our facility identifying location of elevators, ADA restrooms, and ADA designated areas for each exhibit on the property.

Assistance Animals

Assistance animals are welcome at CMA. All assistance animals must remain on a leash or harness at all times and guests may not leave their assistance animal unattended. Assistance animals must remain a reasonable distance from CMA marine life and other animals. This is best accomplished by maintaining a minimum of six feet between the assistance animal and CMA's animals. Guests are responsible for controlling their assistance animal's behavior. If at any time a guest animal's behavior becomes a threat to the safety or well being of other guests, the guest with an assistance animal will be asked to leave the facility.

Pet Policy

  • With the exception of service animals, absolutely no pets are allowed inside Clearwater Marine Aquarium. This includes small dogs in purses or other bags.
  • Please make arrangements for your pet before visiting. Do not leave your pet unattended in your vehicle. Even on a cool day, the temperature inside a car climbs rapidly. In keeping with our mission, our team will call authorities if we witness an unattended animal in distress. You could be charged with cruelty to animals.
