5/31/09 Betsy is an adult female loggerhead that was found floating and lethargic, covered in epibiota and algae and has a prolapsed cloaca that was picked up by FWC in Punta Gorda. She weighed 223 pounds. She was administered antibiotics, fluids for hydration and supplements and placed in “dry dock” on a floating foam mat overnight.

6/2/09 Taken for x-rays. Saw some gas and material in gastrointestinal tract. Started offering food but not interested. Acting very uncoordinated, violent body and head movements.

6/6/09 Offering fish but not interested, began to assist feed fish. She is taking the assist feeds very well and swallowing well.

6/9/09 Acting more coordinated, not as neurological, starting to forage capelin and squid on own from hand.

6/24/09 eating very well on own, voracious, moved to large KD pool.

7/15/09 Blood work looks within normal range, weight=226 pounds, eating almost 10 pounds of food daily!

8/11/09 Doing very well, eating all diet and supplements, awaiting veterinary staff to give ok to release.
