Sea Turtle Nesting

Clearwater Marine Aquarium has been selected by Pinellas County to monitor nearly 26 miles of coast line to report on any sea turtle nesting activity. The dual mission of releasing injured and sick turtles back into the wild, while ensuring as many hatchlings survive as possible, helps to save these species from extinction.

Wild Dolphin Study

Clearwater Marine Aquarium initiated a photo identification study to document the lives of the bottlenose dolphin population of Clearwater Bay and Clearwater Harbor. To date, our field biologists have identified and cataloged more than 80 dolphins using pictures taken of their dorsal fins.

Otter Kit Season

River otters usually breed between the months of March and April, and pregnancy lasts 11-12 months. Baby otters are called kits and females usually have 1-3 kits per litter. Mother otters have to teach their kits how to swim and hunt. Kits are weaned at 14 weeks, but can stay with their mothers for up to a year.

Sea Turtle Tracking

Locate and track released sea turtles and see where they have gone on the map.
