Spring break is here! We’ve put together this checklist to guide you through all the special events and things you don’t want to miss when visiting CMA!
1. Visit Clearwater Beach — the #1 Beach in the United States!
Clearwater Beach, less than a mile from Clearwater Marine Aquarium, was just named the number one beach in the U.S. for 2018 by TripAdvisor! The beautiful, white-sand beach has previously won the same Traveler’s Choice Award and top 25 in the world in 2016. Enjoy gulf coast sunsets and family-friendly activity around Pier 60 and the Beachwalk. Remember to keep the beach clean and practice ocean-friendly habits to protect marine life.
If you’re staying at the beach, consider booking rooms at one of our hotel partners, including the Winter the Dolphin themed room at the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach.
2. Enjoy Sundown Special Admission and Extended Hours
After a day at Clearwater Beach, bring the family and enjoy spring at CMA with extended hours, take a kid-friendly boat tour around the bay, watch sunsets with Nicholas the dolphin, and, of course, visit Winter and all the rescued, resident animals. Sundown Special admission is just $9.99 from 4-8 p.m. select dates March — April!
3. Take a Tropical Family Cruise
During our spring Sundown Special hours, you can also enjoy a fun and family-friendly, tropical boat tour around beautiful Clearwater Harbor. Get the opportunity to see local wildlife during the evening hours, participate in educational trivia games and enjoy a relaxing voyage on the water with music and refreshing treats.
Visiting earlier in the day? Enjoy the Sea Life Safari and Dolphin Adventure Tour every day!
4. “Spring into Science” with Spring Break Camp
Campers will be immersed in science exploration and experimentation, which will excite and inspire as we study Clearwater Bay. Campers will board a Clearwater Marine Aquarium vessel and study the local ecosystem while participating in plankton tows and net pulls. In addition, campers will discover the properties of water, have hands-on practice using the scientific method and learn about our other exhibits before we open to the public each day. Register for Spring and Summer Camps today!
5. Meet the New Pelicans in the Aviary
Skylar, Matthew and Tyndall join Ricky, who famously played the role of Rufus in Dolphin Tale. See all four of these great white pelicans together in our new pelican aviary. You might see them splashing in their pool or preening on the sand near the viewing windows. And now you can watch them from a whole new perspective live on our newest webcam, the Pelican Cam!
6. See Rescued Reptiles at Reptilepalooza
Learn all about reptiles during Reptilepalooza, a special live exhibit, March 10-April 8. Enjoy educational activities, see tortoises every day and meet snakes, skinks, alligators and other rescued reptiles on select dates.
