Olivia is a large, juvenile green sea turtle, who was found floating offshore near John’s Pass in Pinellas County, Florida on June 2, 2019.
Do you remember Babyface? She was a dolphin that Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) observed in 2015 with deep propeller cuts on the peduncle near her tail. Babyface was recently spotted once again and this time with a calf!
On January 5, 2018, a juvenile green sea turtle was found floating off the sea wall at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Upon retrieval and initial examination, it appeared the sea turtle had several healing boat strike wounds along with tumors of varying sizes located in all quadrants.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) released three sea turtles on Tues., April 17 at Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs, FL. The sea turtles included Echo and Papa, two endangered green sea turtles treated for the fibropapilloma virus, and Marigold, a critically endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtle treated for boat strike injuries.
On February 28, 2017, a sub-adult green sea turtle was found along the shoreline in Captiva, Lee County, FL. The turtle had a large wound on its carapace (shell) and had many small fibropapilloma tumors on its body.
Vanilla Wafer is a juvenile green sea turtle that was found on January 24th, 2016 in Clearwater Beach, FL with three severe boat strike wounds on its carapace. These wounds left internal tissue, including the spinal cord, exposed.
