Nitro is a sub-adult loggerhead who was found floating by a boater near Hurricane Pass in Pinellas County. Nitro arrived at CMA on August 13, 2019. Upon intake, Nitro appeared lethargic and slightly thin. She had thick algae coverage and several barnacles on her carapace (shell). It appears Nitro might have some gastrointestinal issues. Her initial treatment consists of vitamins, fluids, and antibiotics.
Taz is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found floating in a shipping channel in the Crystal River area on May 29, 2019.
Roadrunner is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found floating and rescued near a dock in St. Pete Beach, Florida on May 8, 2019.
Bowser was found floating and swimming sideways around St. John’s Sound, between Honeymoon Island State Park and Fred Howard Park on June 13, 2018. This was most likely due to gastrointestinal gas.
On January 7, 2018, a juvenile green sea turtle was found floating at Hudson Beach in Pasco County, FL with suspected fibropapilloma tumors present.
On January 8, 2018, a juvenile green sea turtle was found floating in the Clearwater Municipal Marina in Pinellas County with suspected fibropapilloma tumors and missing its right front flipper.
On December 17, a juvenile green turtle was found floating at the surface of the water, with a few small fibropapilloma tumors on its flippers. Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s Rescue Team was called in to collect the turtle and bring it back to CMA for immediate triage and care.
On June 27, 2017, fishermen found a sub-adult loggerhead floating near Tierra Verde in Pinellas County. It was covered in barnacles, and seemed very lethargic.
On May 26, 2017, a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle was found floating offshore, covered in barnacles, and emaciated.
