Trainer for a Day


Family enjoying dolphin encounterGuests will shadow one of our program hosts to participate in a hands-on experience with the animal care specialists and our animals through three hours of:

  • Food preparation
  • Animal enrichment
  • Exhibit maintenance
  • Record keeping

Participants will assist animal care staff during one training and feeding session with our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, one training and feeding session with our Great white pelican and one training and feeding session with our North American river otters. This program may be booked any day of the week and is limited to three participants. Reservations are required. Call (727) 441-1790 x 0 to book. We have two sessions each day:

Morning Session:             10 am to 1 pm
Afternoon Session:           1:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Please Note:

  • Participants must be at least 10 years old, able to climb stairs and lift 15 pounds.
  • Jewelry cannot be worn and there are no exceptions.

Our rescue team joined efforts with FWC this week to respond to a manatee calf that had suffered several boat propeller strikes. The calf was successfully rescued & transported to Lowry Park Zoo for rehabilitation. It is crucial to marine animals’ safety that we all practice safe boating while out on the water!
